At Senegal's first gold mine, Sabodala-Massawa, many ongoing activities and plans are afoot to consolidate its position as a cornerstone of the country's raw materials production and a vital pillar of Endeavour Mining's portfolio.

In addition to expanding the mine, Endeavour is also installing a new BIOX processing facility, which will add incremental production of 1.35Moz at a low AISC of $576/oz over its mine life. It is also primed to build a 37 MWp photovoltaic solar facility for $55 million to complement the 36 MW heavy fuel oil power plant currently onsite.

Title: Sandvik and Boliden: Pioneering Innovation in Mining

In the dynamic landscape of mining, collaboration and innovation have become key drivers of progress. Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a global leader in mining equipment and solutions, has forged a powerful partnership with Boliden, a prominent mining company known for its commitment to excellence. Together, they are spearheading a series of groundbreaking initiatives that promise to revolutionize the industry.

One of the most notable collaborations between Sandvik and Boliden is evident at the Boliden Aitik mine. Back in 2007, Sandvik supplied a comprehensive in-pit crushing system to Boliden Aitik, comprising primary gyratory crushing stations and overland conveyors. This system marked a significant milestone in the mine's development, showcasing the effectiveness of Sandvik's cutting-edge solutions.

More recently, Boliden and Sandvik embarked on a pioneering venture involving 3D printing within the mining workflow. This innovative project underscores their shared commitment to embracing advanced technologies and pushing the boundaries of possibility in the mining sector.

Beyond Boliden Aitik, the collaboration between Sandvik and Boliden extends to other ambitious projects across various mining sites. At Boliden's Garpenberg zinc operation in Sweden, renowned as one of the most modern mining sites globally, the partners initiated a groundbreaking trial of the Sandvik LH518B—an 18-tonne battery-electric loader. This innovative loader, powered solely by batteries, aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions underground, contributing to enhanced sustainability in mining operations.

Similarly, at Boliden's Kevitsa multi-metal mine in northern Finland, Sandvik's cutting-edge technology is set to transform surface drilling operations. The deployment of Sandvik Leopard™ DI650i down-the-hole (DTH) drill rigs, coupled with AutoMine® Surface Drilling systems, enables fully autonomous surface drilling—a move that enhances safety, efficiency, and productivity at the mine.

These collaborative efforts between Sandvik and Boliden underscore the transformative potential of technology and innovation in the mining industry. From autonomous loaders to 3D printing integration and advanced drilling systems, these initiatives exemplify how partnerships are driving sustainable, efficient, and safe mining practices. As Sandvik and Boliden continue to push the boundaries of possibility, their collaborative endeavors pave the way for a brighter, more innovative future for the mining sector.
