Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based LB Foster Company has completed the relocation of its threaded products water well group from Houston to a new facility in Magnolia, Texas.

The Magnolia plant uses advanced technology and has extended operating hours to increase production capacity. "The new facility provides our production team with single flow manufacturing that expedites the movement of pipe through our threading process," said Merry Brumbaugh, vice president, LB Foster Tubular Products.

At the Chicago Auto Show today, Toyota announced the return of its 100 Cars for Good program.

For the second year in a row, Toyota will award 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days to 100 US nonprofits, with winners selected through public voting on the Toyota Facebook page.  

The announcement was made by Michael Rouse, vice president of philanthropy and community affairs for Toyota Motor Sales, USA, who was accompanied by some of the nonprofits that received vehicles in last year's 100 Cars for Good program.

UK-based Subsea 7 has won a contract worth $185 million from Elf Exploration UK on the West Franklin Field in the Central Graben area of the North Sea.

The scope of the subsea, umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) contract includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of the Sealine Package associated with the West Franklin Phase 2 Development.

The Sealine Package consists of a 6.2 kilometre pipeline bundle incorporating two insulated pipe-in-pipe production pipelines to connect the new West Franklin A and Elgin B platforms.

Dow Corning is a global leader in silicones and innovative silicon-based technology and the agreement will provide Air Products with access to significant silane volume to meet the present and future needs of its global customers, as well as the future growth of the electronics and solar industry.

US convenience retailer 7-Eleven has agreed to acquire the retail interests of 28 locations from Pacific Convenience & Fuels LLC (PC&F).

US convenience retailer 7-Eleven has agreed to acquire the retail interests of 28 locations from Pacific Convenience & Fuels LLC (PC&F).

Located in the western half of the US, the acquisition includes sites in California, Oregon, Washington and Colorado, and brings the retailer’s acquisitions this year up to over 400 sites.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2011, subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The study measures problems experienced over the past 12 months by original owners of three-year-old vehicles. Overall dependability is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles, with a lower score reflecting higher quality.

Caterpillar Inc. announced today that it plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Thailand to build underground mining machinery.

The company will break ground on the new factory in early 2011, with production scheduled to begin in late 2012. The facility will produce a full range of underground mining articulated trucks and loaders, which are used by Caterpillar customers around the world in hard-rock underground mining applications.
