US-based Select Energy Services has entered the Canadian market with the completion of its purchase of WTR Transfer Services Ltd. (WTR).

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Select Energy Services provides engineered water solutions to the oil and gas industry, and well-site services to energy producers.

WTR performs water transfer services for the shale drilling industry in western Canada, specializing in high volume water transfer through a "no leak" water transfer system.

AIM-listed oil and gas exploration and development company Europa Oil & Gas has announced a significant improvement in UK production and revenues generated during the six month period ending 31 January 2012.

The company has a combination of producing and exploration assets in Europe, including three producing assets in the UK, all located onshore in the East Midlands. It has a 100 per cent working interest in the West Firsby and Crosby Warren fields and a 65 per cent working interest in the Whisby 4 well.

UK oil and gas producer EnQuest has acquired a further 25 per cent stake in the Kraken oil discovery from Nautical Petroleum.

UK oil and gas producer EnQuest has acquired a further 25 per cent stake in the Kraken oil discovery from Nautical Petroleum.

EnQuest will pay up to $240 million for the stake, together with interests in surrounding exploration acreage, based on the determination of gross reserves.

The acquisition will bring EnQuest’s stake in Kraken up to 45 per cent, following its previous purchase of a 20 per cent stake from oil and gas explorer Canamens earlier this month. Nautical retains a 25 per cent interest, with First Oil holding the remaining 30 per cent.

The Weir Group PLC has agreed to acquire Novatech LLC, a US manufacturer of well service pump valves and valve seats for upstream oil and gas applications, for $176 million (£113 million) in cash.

Based in Dallas, Texas, Novatech is a family-owned business producing a wide variety of proprietary valves and valve seats for high pressure applications such as frac, cement and mud pumps used in unconventional upstream oil and gas operations.

The business is well known to Weir, being a long standing local supplier to Weir SPM.

Iraq has disclosed detailed information about the revenue it received from oil and gas exports in 2009 in a special report.

Iraq's disclosure of the $41 billion it received demonstrates its commitment to the EITI standard, the global standard for transparency of resource revenues.

The information is published in Iraq's first EITI Report, which details production figures and revenues from the sales of oil abroad in 2009.

Global M&A activity for upstream oil and gas deals in 2011 totaled $170 billion in 726 deals, according to a new report.

The report from PLS, Inc. in conjunction with international partner Derrick Petroleum Services, includes all upstream oil and gas deals with values disclosed.

"Total deal value in 2011 dropped 19 percent from 2010 record levels, yet the number of deals increased 15 percent to a record of 726,” said Ronyld W Wise, president of Houston-based PLS, Inc.

SPX Corporation has completed its acquisition of CLYDEUNION Pumps, a UK based global supplier of pump technologies used in oil and gas processing, power generation and other industrial applications.

In the final agreement as amended 22 December, 2011, the total purchase price comprises £500 million sterling, paid at closing, plus a potential earn-out payment in 2013 based on 2012 EBITDA performance.

Rockhopper Exploration has announced the discovery of more oil and gas in the North Falklands Basin.

The oil and gas exploration company drilled in multiple reservoir targets: Beverley, Casper South, Casper and Sea Lion Main Complex.

The positive drilling update is expected to raise estimated reserves of hydrocarbons across the four fields.

The Sea Lion discovery was the first oil to flow to surface in Falkland Islands waters, having been successfully tested during September 2010 and June 2011.

Norway’s AGR Group has agreed to sell its field operations business, AGR FO, to the Norwegian subsidiary of Oceaneering International.

Norway’s AGR Group has agreed to sell its field operations business, AGR FO, to the Norwegian subsidiary of Oceaneering International.

Headquartered in Bergen, Norway, AGR FO is a provider of inspection, maintenance, subsea engineering and field operations services, principally to the oil and gas industry.

The acquisition price is expected to be approximately $240 million (1.36 billion Norwegian kroner) with the transaction expected to close by the end of 2011. For 2012 Oceaneering expects the acquisition to add approximately $10 million of net income.

Centrica, the parent company of British Gas, and Norway’s Statoil have signed a strategic agreement for the supply of 50 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas to the UK.

Centrica, the parent company of British Gas, and Norway’s Statoil have signed a strategic agreement for the supply of 50 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas to the UK.

The 10-year, NBP-linked gas supply contract begins in 2015 and secures sufficient gas to meet around five per cent of the UK’s total annual demand—enough for 3.5 million homes.

The UK currently imports around 50 per cent of its gas requirements.
