TRW Automotive has announced plans to expand its electrically powered steering systems facilities in Poland, in support of growing demand from a range of vehicle manufacturers. 

TRW Automotive has announced plans to expand its electrically powered steering systems facilities in Poland, in support of growing demand from a range of vehicle manufacturers.  

Approximately 9,000 square meters of additional manufacturing space will be established in Bielsko Biala close to the existing site in Czechowice-Dziedzice. Production will start in the first quarter of 2012. Initially, 250 new jobs will be created.

RPC Group, the UK plastic packaging supplier, has announced it will acquire its Danish rival, packaging maker Superfos Industries, for about €240 million.

RPC Group, the UK plastic packaging supplier, has announced it will acquire its Danish rival, packaging maker Superfos Industries, for about €240 million.

RPC said the deal would provide it with factories in Poland and Scandinavia, as well as operations in Turkey and North Africa.

Poland’s Kulczyk Holding has been selected for exclusive talks to buy the state’s 51 per cent in Enea, the country’s third largest power generator.

Poland’s Kulczyk Holding has been selected for exclusive talks to buy the state’s 51 per cent in Enea, the country’s third largest power generator.

The decision means that France’s GDF Suez is now out of the running to buy the utility.

Kulczyk will have until November 3 to negotiate the purchase of the government’s shares, worth more than five billion zlotys (approximately €1.2 billion).

Kulczyk Holding has emphasised that, if successful, it hopes to build a private Polish energy company around Enea.

The Czech Republic's Energeticky a Prymuslovy Holding (EPH) and France's GdF Suez are said to have made the shortlist for a 51 per cent stake in Poland's Enea.

The Czech Republic's Energeticky a Prymuslovy Holding (EPH) and France's GdF Suez are said to have made the shortlist for a 51 per cent stake in Poland's Enea.

EPH has offered 25 zlotys per share, valuing the controlling stake at 5.63 billion zlotys (approximately €1.41 billion), while GdF Suez offered 24.9 zlotys per share or 5.6 billion zlotys (approx. €1.4 billion) for the stake.

The two other bidders are France's EDF and businessman Jan Kulczyk, who offered 5.4 billion and 5.2 billion zlotys respectively.

There have been many political and economic changes in Poland over the past 40 years and the history of Mine Master Ltd has tended to reflect them. It grew out of activities in the ‘new copper basin’, which was discovered in the late 1950s, and when the Lena mining facility was exhausted and closed in 1972, it gave the opportunity for a free standing business to be established on the site.
